Sister Mary Nadine Casey, CIJ Award
Therese McCormack is very honored and proud to receive the Sister Mary Nadine Casey, CIJ Award. Terry demonstrates her commitment to Mercy Medical Center and the Health Information Management Department through her daily interactions with her staff, communication with patients and families who present to her department.
Terry is responsible for introducing Mercy Medical Center to the role of the “job coach" for challenged adults. The HIM department, under Terry's leadership, opened their door and began the role of the job coach; teaching medical record functions such as filing, collating and sorting out paperwork. As a result, three graduates of the program were able to qualify for a job interview and are now gainfully employed! Terry mentors on average thirty coding students from Nassau Community College each year for the past eight years. Throughout the years Terry hired twenty students who demonstrated skills and potential in coding and health information management. In 2015 Terry was awarded the Health Information Management Champion Award. This award recognizes those individuals who have worked tirelessly to support the HIM profession by advancing LIHIMA’s leadership position.
Terry is a member of Mercy Medical Center's Cancer Survivor volunteer group. Her goal for the evening is to have every survivor and their guests leave with a smile. Terry is an untiring, committed employee who quietly goes about spreading Mercy's mission and ministry.
Terry is an active member of St. Ignatius Martyr Church. During her junior and senior years at St. Agnes Cathedral High School, Terry was a member of the Mercy Ball Honor Guard. She is the mother of two beautiful daughters, Caitlin and Allison, and a new son-in-law, Greg. Terry currently lives in Lido Beach and has been married for 33 years to her wonderful husband, Jim.
