Charles & Doreen Baldwin
Bishop John R. McGann Lifetime Achievement Award
Charles & Doreen Baldwin are extremely honored to be receiving the Bishop John R. McGann Lifetime Achievement Award. Charles, like his wife Doreen, believes in the importance of giving back. A graduate of Farmingdale State University, Charlie served as a Staff Sargent in the United States National Guard. He worked in managerial positions in the information technology and manufacturing industries for nearly 40 years. Now semi-retired, Charlie enjoys a career in the automobile industry. A long standing member of the Friends of Mercy Medical Center, founding member of the St. Agnes Father’s Club, Knight Commander with Star of the Equestrian Order of the Knights of the Holy Seplechre of Jerusalem, and serves as an usher at St. Agnes Cathedral.
Doreen has been connected with Mercy Medical Center since her first breath as she was born at Mercy. A graduate of St. Vincent’s Hospital School for Nursing and Nassau Community College, Doreen enjoyed a career in the dental industry for over thirty years.
Doreen embodies the spirit of volunteerism as she has been associated with and volunteered for numerous organizations on Long Island. These organizations include the American Red Cross, Friends of Children Everywhere, New Beginnings Parents Club, St. Agnes Mother’s Club, St. Agnes School Board secretary, Holy Trinity H.S. Parents Club, and St. Agnes Choirs. Doreen currently serves as the President of the Mercy Medical Center Leagues.
Both Charlie and Doreen are devout Catholics, and staunch supporters of Mercy Medical Center. Tonight they are attending their 43rd Mercy Ball! The Mercy Ball holds an extra special place in the Baldwin’s hearts as they both have taken lead positions in helping with the coordination of the Honor Guard for many years. Residing in Rockville Centre and married for 45 years, the Baldwin’s have two children. Mercy Medical Center and the Friends of Mercy are proud to honor the dedication and service of Doreen and Charlie.
