Mayor Francis X. Murray
Mayor Francis X. Murray, a life-long Rockville Centre resident, is a graduate of St. Agnes Grammar School and Cardinal Farley Military Academy before attending the University of Dayton. Mayor Murray began his professional career working for his father, former Mayor Eugene J. Murray, before establishing “F.X. Murray Maintenance Co. – Murray Service” and “Black Knight Maintenance Co.”
Elected Mayor of Rockville Centre in 2011 and re-elected in 2015 and 2019, Mayor Murray has made a real difference in his community. His efforts in Washington, Albany, and Nassau County, has brought over $46 million dollars in grants to his hometown. He has fostered public/private partnerships with Rockville Centre Schools, Molloy University, Rockville Centre Soccer Club, and Rockville Centre Little League to improve parks and fields at little or no cost to taxpayers. Molloy University bestowed an Honorary Doctor of Law to Mayor Murray. Molloy University, Rockville Centre Soccer Club, and Rockville Centre Little League to improve parks and fields at little or no cost to taxpayers. Mayor Murray and the Village of Rockville Centre have been recognized by the media and others as a municipality that gets it right with a thriving downtown and visionary leadership. Mayor Murray currently serves on the Executive Committee for the New York State Conference of Mayors, where he was elected and currently serves as President representing over 550 Mayors in New York State.
Mercy Hospital is very special to Mayor Murray. Most notably, he has served as a member of the Mercy Hospital’s Planning, President of the Friends of Mercy, and Special Advisor to the board, as well as a member of Mercy Medical Center’s Board of Trustees. Murray continues his commitment to the hospital where he, his father, siblings, children and grandchildren were all brought into this world. He has not missed a Mercy Ball in over four decades. Married to his eighth-grade sweetheart, Mayor Murray and Barbara are the proud parents of Megan, Francis, Jr., Susan, Deirdre and Terence and grandparents to Connor, Shannon, and Sean.
