Mercy Hospital is proud to honor Evelyn Morales with the Theodore Roosevelt Award for Outstanding Service, recognizing her many years of dedication and commitment to Mercy Hospital. Evelyn is a Physician Assistant, NYS licensed and board-certified through NCCPA.
Evelyn received her undergraduate degree from Fordham University, with a B.S. in Biology and a concentration in Pre-med studies. After graduation, she entered a retail management program but soon shifted to healthcare, spending 15 years as a Pharmaceutical and Specialty Sales Representative. She then pursued a Physician Assistant degree from Touro College, graduating Cum Laude and earning the Barry Z. Levine Award as the Most Outstanding Student in 1996. Her 13 years of outpatient practice included Family Medicine, Primary Care, Physiatry, and Neurology.
Evelyn joined Mercy Medical Center in 2008 as a Medicine PA in the Intermediate Care Units and quickly rose through the ranks, becoming Medicine MLP Coordinator in 2009. In 2010, she transitioned to Critical Care Medicine, and by 2013, she assumed dual responsibilities as Medicine & Critical Care Medicine MLP Coordinator. Evelyn continued to advance her education, earning a Master’s Degree in Healthcare Administration from Seton Hall University in 2016, the same year she was appointed Director of Mid-Level Practitioner Services. Throughout her leadership roles, Evelyn remained dedicated to her clinical practice and procedural expertise in Critical Care.
Evelyn balances two roles: a full-time position at Mercy and a part-time role as a Neurology PA. Further distinguishing herself, Evelyn received the Preceptor of the Year award from Touro College in 2020. Her pursuit of excellence led her to attain a Doctorate in Medical Science Education from Lincoln Memorial University in 2022, and her contributions were recognized with a nomination for the CHS Patrick J. Scollard Award in 2023. Mercy Hospital is honored to celebrate her exceptional service.
Evelyn is bilingual in English and Spanish. She is a member of American Academy of Physician Assistants, New York State Society of Physicians Assistants and Society of Critical Care Medicine. She is the proud mother of two daughters, Cristina & Teresa and grandmother to five grandsons and one granddaughter. She enjoys reading, traveling, music, dancing and engaging in conversations with friends, family and patients.
It is with great pride that Mercy Hospital congratulates Evelyn on receiving the prestigious Theodore Roosevelt Award. Her unwavering dedication, remarkable contributions, and lasting impact at Mercy Hospital truly exemplify the values and spirit of this honor. Evelyn’s commitment to excellence and service over the years has set a remarkable standard, and Mercy Hospital is privileged to celebrate her legacy of leadership and compassion.
