We are thrilled to announce that John J. Joyce is being honored at this year’s Mercy Ball as the recipient of the prestigious Theodore Roosevelt Award for Public Service Distinction.
We celebrate John’s unwavering dedication and tireless efforts that will have a lasting imprint on the Friends of Mercy and Mercy Hospital. His achievements exemplify the ideals and values that the Theodore Roosevelt award represents.
John’s affiliation with the Friends of Mercy extends over 25 years, and his contributions to the Friends of Mercy and Mercy Hospital have been nothing short of extraordinary. During his years of service John has accepted many challenges, and has held pivotal roles at critical times, including serving as President for two years (2015-2016). He has been Treasurer of The Friends for the past 16 years, retiring this position earlier this year. Additionally, John has co-chaired several St. Patrick’s Gentlemen’s Dinners, contributing to the success of these important fund raising events. John continues to serve as the Advisor to the Board, providing invaluable guidance and leadership.
John’s impact on the Friends organization goes beyond his service in leadership roles. He has played a crucial part in propelling the organization to new heights, spearheading initiatives such as the Friends 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status, facilitating the creation of the Strategic Planning framework for community outreach on behalf of the Hospital.
John brings a wealth of experience and expertise to his role as an honoree. With over 25 years of experience in leadership positions, John has proven himself to be an exceptional leader and a valuable asset to the organizations he has served. As a Certified Public Accountant and having earned his MBA in International Finance from NYU Stern School of Business further underscores his dedication to business and financial excellence. Throughout his illustrious career, John has contributed his talents to various industries, including telecommunications, investment banking, and most recently healthcare, as Vice President Finance at Cercle.AI, an early stage company focused on the improvement of women’s health.
His leadership as a CEO and CFO in both publicly traded and privately held companies has been instrumental in driving financial success at different companies in different industries.
In addition to his remarkable contributions to the Friends of Mercy, John has called Rockville Centre home for most of his life. Together with his wife, Donna, they have raised three wonderful children, Michelle, John Jr. and Katy, each residing in Rockville Centre today. Beyond his dedicated public service and professional accomplishments, John and Donna find joy in spending significant time with their four grandchildren, adding warmth and love to his family’s legacy.
John is especially proud of each of his children and four grandchildren and finds much gratitude that his son – John J Joyce Jr. and two son-in-laws, Sean Creegan and Christopher Fosso are active members of The Friends of Mercy.
